On
14th March 2005 the UK’s most exciting new talent,
singer/songwriter Jem, releases her debut single. Entitled ‘They’,
the single is the first taster of Jem’s unique luscious
blend of hip hop, electronica, folk, and classic 60's style
pop, which has been dubbed by some writers as trip-pop.
Despite being British, Jem is an established name across the
Atlantic where she is label mates with acclaimed singer-songwriters,
David Gray and Ben Kweller,
not only that, legendary artist and ATO label owner Dave
Matthews is a huge Jem fan!. She has been critically
acclaimed by everyone from style bible Nylon to the New York
Times, been nominated for their Mercury Music Prize, the 2004
Shortlist Prize, made a guest appearance on ‘The O.C.’
and has even written a song for Madonna’s ‘American
Life’ album. |
